The
Swimming Pools
Bulleen Swim Centre has two heated indoor
swimming pools available for hire.
- The first pool is our 6
lane, 25m pool, which is heated to a comfortable 31 degrees. This pool
can cater for children from a variety of swimming backgrounds. The
pool can comfortably accommodate up to 60 children at any one time.
- In addition, is our 4
lane 12.5m teaching pool, which is heated to a warm 33 degrees. Being
warm, shallow and free from external distractions, this pool provides
an ideal environment in which to teach young children to swim. This
pool is particularly suited to pre-school, preps and grade ones.
Our pools
can be hired either individually or together. Users have exclusive use of
the pool(s) they have booked and the accompanying change rooms (each of our
pools has its own set of changing rooms). This feature favours
the use of Bulleen Swim Centre over other council recreation centres, where
in most instances school groups are forced to share facilities with the
general public.
The
Teaching Staff
All our teaching staff at Bulleen are experienced
teachers with their Austswim qualifications. Our
teachers have experience teaching all swimming levels from pre-school to
special needs children. The Centre also has a number of qualified swimming
coaches who are extremely experienced. The centre is owned by Buddy
Portier, Level 3 accredited swimming coach and David Wilson, Level 2 accredited swimming coach. Our recommended
student to teacher ratios are:

The
Learn to Swim Program
All effective learn to swim programs need a progressive
learning structure. The Royal Life Saving Society Aquapass
system of learn to swim is a popular choice amongst schools. Bulleen Swim
Centre also has its own established lesson structure which schools have the
option of utilising. Further information
regarding this alternative is available from the Centre upon request.

In addition to the costs above, all children attending the centre are
required to wear swimming caps whilst in the pool. If necessary, school
groups can order Bulleen Swim Centre caps in advance at a cost of $3.00ea.

Teachers and Coaches for schools with pool
facilities
The Bulleen Swim
Centre can also supply fully qualified and experienced coaches and teachers
for schools fortunate enough to have their own pool facilities. Staff can
be provided to assist P.E/Sports staff to run a swimming program, or to run
our internal learn to swim, or coaching program at your facility.
